Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about training at Kettle Flex Fitness. Can't find your answer? Call us at (619) 438-0494 or email info@kettleflex.com.

Do I need any experience to join?

Absolutely not — no experience is needed and none is expected. We welcome complete beginners every day. Every new member starts with an intro session where one of our certified coaches walks you through the fundamentals, teaches you proper form, and makes sure you feel confident before joining a group class. You won't be thrown in the deep end.

I'm not very fit right now. Is Kettle Flex for me?

Yes — and honestly, this is exactly when training at Kettle Flex makes the biggest difference. Every exercise can be scaled to your current fitness level. Our coaches don't just run classes — they watch every member and adjust movements as needed. Whether you're just starting out or getting back into fitness after years away, you'll be coached, not ignored.

What should I do first — just show up or contact you?

The easiest first step is to grab our 30-day trial for $30 — that gets you full access to classes and open gym for a full month. You can sign up directly at kettleflex.com. If you'd prefer to talk to someone first, just call us at (619) 438-0494 or email info@kettleflex.com and we'll set up a free intro consultation.

Classes & training

What does a typical class look like?

Every class is coach-led from start to finish. You'll start with a warm-up, move into the main workout — which typically combines kettlebell movements with strength or conditioning elements — and finish with a cool-down. Classes are kept small intentionally so the coach can give real attention to each member's form and progress. No two classes are exactly the same.

How is Kettle Flex different from CrossFit?

Good question — we get this a lot. The main differences: we specialize in kettlebells and functional strength, while CrossFit is more varied. Our classes are smaller and more coaching-intensive, which means you get more individual attention. We also don't use the competitive "WOD" format — our focus is on smart, safe, sustainable training that builds strength over time rather than pushing you to exhaustion every session.

How many people are in each class?

We keep classes small on purpose — typically no more than 10 people. This is one of the things our members value most. Small classes mean the coach actually knows your name, tracks your progress, and can correct your form in real time. You get the accountability of a personal trainer at a fraction of the price.

Do you offer personal training?

Yes — we offer 1-on-1 personal training with our certified coaches. Personal training is ideal if you have specific goals, are recovering from an injury, or simply want dedicated one-on-one coaching. Visit our Training page to meet our team and schedule a free consultation.

Why kettlebells? What makes them so effective?

Kettlebells are one of the most versatile training tools in existence. A single kettlebell movement — like the swing or the Turkish get-up — works your entire body simultaneously: building strength, burning calories, improving mobility, and developing real-world functional fitness. Unlike machines that isolate one muscle at a time, kettlebell training builds the kind of strength that carries over into everyday life. It's also joint-friendly when done correctly, which is why our members in their 40s, 50s, and beyond often respond to it better than traditional weightlifting.

Pricing & membership

What does the 30-day $30 trial include?

The trial gives you 30 days of unlimited group classes and open gym access for just $30. It's designed to give you enough time to truly experience the training, get comfortable with the movements, and start seeing results — before you decide on a membership. No strings attached, no automatic billing after the trial ends.

Are there contracts or long-term commitments?

No contracts. Our month-to-month membership runs $169/month with no long-term commitment required. We also offer a 10-class pack at $249 for members who prefer flexibility, and a 6-month prepaid option at $899 (10% off) for those who want to commit and save. See all options on our Pricing page.

Is $169/month worth it compared to a cheaper gym?

We'd put it this way: a $10/month gym membership is only worth it if you actually use it consistently and get results. Most people don't — because there's no accountability, no coaching, and no community. At Kettle Flex, you're getting coached group classes led by certified trainers, a small community that keeps you accountable, and a proven training system. When you factor in what a single personal training session costs elsewhere ($75–$100+), our membership is a significant value. Most of our members tell us they've gotten better results here in 3 months than years at a big-box gym.

Location & logistics

Where are you located and is there parking?

We're located at 6210 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115 — near SDSU in the College Area neighborhood. Street parking is available on El Cajon Blvd. We're accessible from City Heights, La Mesa, Talmadge, and surrounding neighborhoods.

What are your hours?

We offer classes mornings, midday, and evenings Monday through Friday, with weekend morning classes available. Check our Schedule page for current class times — the schedule is updated regularly. If you have questions about specific times, call us at (619) 438-0494.

How long has Kettle Flex been open?

Kettle Flex Fitness was founded in 2011 by Shneur, a certified kettlebell trainer and former competitive powerlifter. We've been training San Diego residents for over a decade — which is why you'll find long-term members who've been with us for years. In the fitness industry, that kind of retention says everything.
